Forest Grove Community Church's Jr. High

It was a perfect night to have our JUNIOR HIGH KICK-OFF! Revealing our new theme for the year, we played a game called “THE FIRST CONTACT” where teams had to rush around from contact to contact and gather the puzzle pieces needed to win the prize at the finish line. Their contacts had them sending Facebook message to their secret contact named “Receive Sight” as well as singing country tunes at a payphone and playing hangman to get their next puzzle piece. It was all in good fun and it was an INTENSE battle between a team of boys and a team of girls at the very end. But only one team could come out on top and it was the boys! Congrats!

After our game we had a short time together in the youth room getting back into the “Jr High” groove and taking a look at one of our theme verses this year,  Matthew 20:34 “Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.” We touched the surface on how we are like those two blind men, receiving sight and then being called to IMMEDIATELY follow. As the year goes on, we’ll unpack more and more of what that looks like in a Junior High’s life.

Hi there!! My name is Chandra Styles and I get the privilege and excitement of being your interim Junior High pastor for the next four months. I’m so excited to see the group of awesome kids we are gonna have out this year and just can’t wait to get to know your names and faces.

My favourite part about fall is that there is always new beginnings. New classes, new grades, new friends…its always a great time of change. We’re ready for it…even WANTING it. And I can’t wait to see what that looks like with our Junior High youth this year.

This year we are gonna be running two types of events…FUSION: a big group night of high energy games and a chance to meet together afterward to hear a Bible talk from the word of God; and we’ll have DIVE: a night to connect to a smaller group of kids and consistent leaders where you can have lots of laughs, be able to be open and honest, and get a chance to grow together as a community.

I’m looking forward to see what this Fall holds for all of us. Its gonna be quite the adventure! Schedules for Sept. – Dec. are in the mail and can also be found on the back of my office door at the church (pop in and say hello!), or click here and download it.
